About
Dr. Peter Mészáros is a highly respected Hungarian colorectal surgeon, proctologist, and oncologic surgeon, known for his leadership in minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and robotic colorectal and colorectal-oncology surgery. He graduated from Pécsi Orvostudományi Egyetem (University of Pécs Medical School) in 2000. After his foundational surgical training at the Budai Irgalmasrendi Hospital, he focused increasingly on tumor surgery, especially colorectal and rectal cancers, and advanced techniques. From 2013, Dr. Mészáros has been affiliated with the National Institute of Oncology in Hungary, where he established and developed the laparoscopic colorectal-surgery profile, and participated in expanding operations in pancreatic, liver, and stomach laparoscopic oncology surgery.
Outside of pure surgical practice, he operates a busy proctology clinic (ProctoMed Center), participates in academic teaching, presents at national and international congresses, and contributes to clinical trials. His leadership and commitment to quality have led his center to be accredited as “Surgeon of Excellence” by the US-based Surgical Review Corporation. He emphasizes a patient-centered, partnership-based doctor-patient relationship, where patients are treated not just with technical excellence but with empathy and clear communication.
